These are a bit different from single trip insurance policies, which as their name suggests only cover you for one travel excursion. Annual travel insurance spans for twelve months and provides coverage for multiple trips during this period. There are many things that are covered, and a few that are not. International medical insurance as offered under many annual plans will pay for inpatient and outpatient services, medicine costs, emergency dental, surgery, and even emergency evacuation, up to a point. One thing that is often not included is trip cancellation insurance. It's a very good idea to purchase trip cancellation insurance separately and do so as soon as you book a trip. This type of insurance provides financial reimbursement in the event that your trip is canceled because of unforseen circumstances. Examples of such circumstances include natural disaster, bad weather, illness, injury or death of a family member. Because many expenses and deposits for trips and vacation packages are non-refundable, you could lose a lot of money if you cancel without this type of coverage.
